Today Firefighters from Company 45 participated with Company 47 as the PSP Firemarshal Conduct several Room & Content burns at a structure locatated in South Hanover Twp. The Burns were conducted to show firefighters the signs of arson fires, Fire fighters will also be shown ways to preserve evidence. Thanx to Chief 47 for inviting us.

The Rutherford Fire Co. will be hosting its Open House on Saturday Oct 11th from 12 noon until 3 p.m. Residents are invited to stop by the Fire Station and meet your local Fire Fighters. There will be displays from various local organizations, with demonstrations, and rides in the Fire Truck.

Today students in the Hummelstown Truck 2 Class went to the old Food Factory Pizza shop in South Hanover Twp. to do thier Skills exercises.
The day was filled with many evalutions which included wall breeching, roof work, and survival/rescue techniques.
Thanks to company 46 for hosting, 47 for the training site, & 36 & 48 for thier support today.

Tonite the Boyz from station 45 transfered the equipment from the FDNY Mack to the new Squad 45 (American Lafrance). Crews worked thru the late afternoon/ early evening to get everything transfered. at approx 23:00 hrs Squad 45 was placed back into service.

Today, FF's took the new Squad out for the pump training. The A.L.F. outdid itself, by flowing water from a 1 3/4 line and 2 Deck guns with very little effort. Look for the A.L.F to be placed into service this week. The Mack will then be retired.

While responding to an Automatic alarm in Box 49-2 at 2494 Paxton Street, Squad 45 was diverted to assist/investigate an Accident at Chambershill Road & Eisenhower Blvd. Upon arrival of the Squad crews found 1 car on its roof and a mini van with impact damage. There were two patients entraped and 2 ejected from the vehicles. The Squad started to stablize the vehicles and patients until further assistance arrived

Members of Rutherford Fire attend the Annual Swatara Twp. Volunteer Appreciation Picnic. The event also gave the boyz from 45 the chance to show the rest of the twp our new Squad.

Attack 45 responded to assist Company 41 & 49 at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course for a Working Golf Cart Fire. The Attack followed Utility 49 to the 16th hole and extinguished what was left of the cart. The original dispatch was for box 41-1, but was determined to by a 49 box

She has finally arrived. The 1992 A.L.F. (formally eng. 2-7-1) has now been relettered and is closer to being put into service. Drivers training will continue this week, then its off to I.M. Service for some minor work, and on Sept 15,16 to K & C for the Radio install. Sept 16th is still the target date for putting the rig into service.

Box 456-2 Odor of Propane Outside

Engine 45 & Rescue 49 responded to assist Company 456 at Amerigas Propane distribution facility on Rupp Hill Road. After what was believed to be a faulty coupling Command notified Chief 91. Crews remained on the scene until a rep. from Amerigas arrived to assume responsibility.
The possible faulty coupling was on the tank to the left of the Chiefs

At tonites company training, Firefighters practiced advancing hand lines thru a maze and knocking down two items placed on barrels at the end.
Crews were timed, but speed wasnt a factor. Everyone participated to get practice pulling cross lays and packing them correctly.

Swatara Twp. Firemen's Association Still Alive

At what was thought to be the Last Meeting of the Swatara Twp. Vol. Firemen's Association the body voted in favor of keeping the organization alive. With a 3 to 2 vote the delegates on hand decided to revamp the organization and return to its orginal purpose.
It was discussed that the fire companies need to present agenda's to our twp. as a group of 1 instead of individuals.
The next meeting will be held at Station 45 (Rutherford) the 3rd Thursday in September.
All Swatara Twp. Firefighters are invited to attend
